Botox

Botox is a highly effective, non-surgical procedure that can reduce wrinkles. But what is Botox and is it right for you? In an attempt to demystify Botox, we’ve put together a list of Frequently Asked Questions.

Q. What is Botox?
A. Botox is a simple, non-surgical procedure that smoothes the deep, persistent lines between your brows. One ten-minute treatment relaxes the muscles that cause those lines to form. Botox has been widely tested and is approved by the FDA.

Q. Who should administer Botox?
A. Any authorized healthcare professional can administer Botox, but generally dermatologists, plastic surgeons, ophthalmologists, and otolaryngologists are more experienced.

Q. What should I expect?
A. The entire procedure takes approximately ten minutes. Your doctor will determine exactly where to administer several tiny injections to achieve the best results. No anesthesia is required, although he or she may choose to numb the area with a cold pack or anesthetic cream prior to injecting. You may resume normal activity immediately. Within days, you’ll see an improvement.

Q. Are there any side effects?
A. It is unlikely you will develop any significant side effects, although some people develop slight temporary bruising at the injection site. The most common side effects are headache, respiratory infection, flu syndrome, temporary eyelid droop and nausea.

Q. Are Botox treatments painful?
A. Discomfort is minimal and brief – similar to a bug bite.

Q. What happens if I choose not to continue treatment?
A. Your lines gradually revert to their pre-treatment appearance.

Q. How long does Botox last?
A. Botox generally lasts up to four months.

Q. Are Botox treatments expensive?
A. When considering facial aesthetic options, Botox is quite affordable.  Contact us for more information and rates.
